Employee of the Month September 2014: Arnette Roane
Meet Philly Temps’ Employee of the Month for September 2014: Arnette Roane
A Philadelphia Native, Arnette has a background in catering and real estate. In between raising her family and helping her community she is also working towards obtaining her Master’s Degree.
Arnette joined the Philly Temps team in January of 2013 and since then this hardworking mother of 5 has proven herself to be a true asset. Starting as a banquet server, Arnette’s dedication, strong work ethic and pleasant demeanor quickly made her a favorite of clients and coworkers alike.
Arnette’s belief that good customer service is the key to success in any environment made her a perfect fit for opportunities beyond our Hospitality division. That is why Arnette has been seen at registration stations at the Convention Center as well as reception desks at the offices of some of our long time clients.
No matter the task, no matter the time of day that we call, no matter the environment, Arnette has shown us that if you start with a smile and pay attention to detail, everything else will be fine.
We recently talked with Arnette to try to get to know her a little better.
Philly Temps (PT): Congratulations for being our Employee of the Month for September 2014!
Arnette Roane (AR): I would like to thank Philly Temps for such a great honor. It is wonderful to work for a company that shows appreciation to their employees for their work.
PT: How long have you lived in Philadelphia, PA?
AR: I was born and raised in Philadelphia.
PT: How did you hear about Philly Temps?
AR: I responded to an ad on Craigslist for banquet servers needed for a big event at a high class hotel. (The Hyatt at the Bellevue), I was called for an interview, I showed up at the time requested and I was hired on the spot.
PT: What has your experience as a temp been like thus far?
AR: It has been extremely rewarding. The people I have met are very appreciative of my work and hospitality services I provide. I make sure the clients feel comfortable and at home while they enjoy they dining experience.
PT: What is your previous work experience?
AR: I worked for several temp agencies as a banquet server. I have also worked in the capacity of secretary and receptionist and I have experience as a Real Estate Agent and Real Estate Manager.
PT: What are your long term career goals?
AR: I am currently enrolled in the University of Phoenix to secure my Master’s Degree in Business Management. In the future, I intend to start my own Property Management Company. I expect my courses in business management to aide me in starting and running a successful business.
PT: What is your life like outside of work?
AR: I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren. (I have 5 sons and 7 grandchildren). I recently went race car driving at a speed raceway facility in Horsham PA. It was a 14-lap race. I really enjoyed that experience. I also enjoy listening to music, dancing, going to the movies, and dining out.
PT: Are you involved in your community?
AR: My contribution to my community is securing the abandon properties in my neighborhood and renovating them to restore Southwest Philadelphia to the beautiful neighborhood it used to be. I believe people will appreciate having a safe, clean, and secure place to call their home. A safe haven and where parents can raise their children with pride and dignity. I would also like to secure school supplies and give them to low income families. As a single mother, I understand how difficult it is to get the needed school supplies for your children.
PT: Please share your most memorable experience working for Philly Temps?
AR: It was a sunny Saturday afternoon and we working a wedding on a fantasy estate. The wedding was outside across a small stream where everyone attending the wedding had to cross over a small bridge. The day was beautiful and perfect for a wedding. The bride was stunning and the groom looked extremely handsome.
What made this wedding even more memorable was the fact that I worked with Chef Zach. Chef Zach was a contestant on the television show Hell’s Kitchen with Gordon Ramsey. One of my sons is an excellent chef and I always envision seeing him on a show like that.
